Unforgettable Mama…

Without your constant love and devotion,

The sky would be painted gray,

And doubt and fear would have walled-in my mind.

Still, I feel the pain from your cutting words,

Sometimes overbearing and bold,

When there was much I needed to be told.

Our untimely good-by left me numb with dread,

Tearful and silent while an angry tornado swirled in my head

With nowhere to unleash its fury.

Whenever life’s mountains seem unconquerable

The updraft of your encouragement cause me to soar higher and higher.

A lesser man would accept praise,

Yet all I can do is mourn the loss

Of the one who gave me life.
